About My Shrewsbury
"My Shrewsbury is on a mission to be the best local publication anywhere in the country. Nothing less will do"
- My Shrewsbury editor Katy Rink
The My Shrewsbury Mission
My Shrewsbury magazine was established in 2017 by national freelance journalist Katy Rink, a passionate advocate of local life who wanted to use her talents to capture the spirit of this special town.
Our sparkling editorial features would sit just as well in any national publication. It's why our readers love us and pay attention to every word. We put writing first!
As a grassroots, independently-owned local publisher, we pride ourselves on serving our readers with in-depth stories that matter to them. Our bi-monthly print magazine is the highest quality A4 publication that Shrewsbury has ever seen. We have an approximate print reach of 25,000+ and distribute to homes, businesses and supermarkets within 10 miles of Shrewsbury. We work very closely with our advertisers, using our knowledge and expertise to help champion businesses in Shropshire.
We are never short on content – there is always so much going on in Shrewsbury, so many vibrant and fascinating creative projects, inspiring individuals making a difference and enterprising business start-ups giving it a go.
We are passionate about local Arts & Culture, Food and Entertainment, full of personality and absolutely in touch with the life of our community. We go to extraordinary lengths to create our beautiful editorial content, working with the best photographers in Shropshire. Our stunning magazine front covers always carry bespoke artwork commissioned from Shrewsbury's top artists and illustrators. We love to support and promote local talent - it’s the best part of the job.

My Shrewsbury is so much more than a magazine. It’s our aim to promote participation in community life and boost well-being, keeping people in touch with where they live. We initiated the Carols on the Doorstep project during Christmas lockdown 2020, involving 35 radio stations across the UK with Shrewsbury as the epicentre!
And we’ve plenty more projects up our sleeve too…
We've lost count of the number of times readers have got in touch to tell us how much they love us. It's fair to say, we've captured the heart of the town.

Meet Our Editor
Katy Rink has been every kind of journalist, starting out as a news reporter on a daily newspaper in Cambridge, working as health editor, columnist and feature writer on the East Anglian Daily Times and freelancing for national newspapers and news agencies. Her work has appeared in the Guardian, The Telegraph, The Daily Mail and Mail Online among others.
She has interviewed many famous personalities, including John Peel, Libby Purves OBE and Will Young, Terry Waite, John McCarthy and PD James. Her favourite story ever was accompanying a group of octogenarian war veterans to St Moritz to watch them launch themselves down the infamous Cresta Run!
She has loved getting to know Shrewsbury since moving here with her two children in 2012 and is tremendously proud of having set up My Shrewsbury magazine whilst continuing to freelance for national newspapers.
Katy also came up with the idea for Carols on the Doorstep during the pandemic and collaborated with BBC Radio Shropshire and Shropshire Festivals to turn it into a national event, covered by BBC Breakfast, The One Show and Channel 5.
Her vision is for My Shrewsbury to be the best hyperlocal media offering anywhere in the country!
