Mile of Smiles to Bring back some FUN!

A 'Mile of Smiles' is set to welcome visitors back to Shrewsbury this summer - & performers are needed to help generate the smiles!

Run by award-winning Shropshire Festivals, this free event on July 25th will lead visitors on a mile route around town, with performers and acts providing upbeat and uplifting entertainment along the way. The mile will finish at Shrewsbury Quarry where local acts, theatre groups, and musicians will be performing on a live stage.

Beth Heath, aptly titled Director of Fun for Shropshire Festivals, said, “This event is all about celebrating culture and finally being able to bring the fun back! We will be raising money for the charity Climbing Out on the day, which helps people rebuild confidence and motivation following a life-changing trauma, injury or illness. We felt this was particularly relevant as we all try to find a new way forward after such a challenging time.

“It will be fantastic to have a live, cultural event in the town, and also to support lots of performers who have had zero income from live gigs during the pandemic."

Shropshire Festivals would love to hear from performers, entertainers, musicians, and acts who would like to be involved. The free event has been made possible with funding from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund and support of Shrewsbury BID.

If you would like to put your performance act forward for the event, please contact Beth Heath on letting her know how you will be able to provide smiles for the event!
