A festive concert featuring the sounds of some of the county’s top musicians will be the star on top of a charity’s Christmas celebrations this year.

Lingen Davies Cancer Fund has created a full programme of festive fun for people to get involved with while raising money for cancer patients throughout Shropshire and Mid Wales this year.

A Christmas Concert is being held at Shrewsbury Abbey on Saturday, 11th December, at 6 pm. It will feature performances from the all-male voice barbershop chorus The Telfordaires, music from the Shrewsbury Light Orchestra, and the Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir choristers.

Michael Jenkins, Head of Music at Moreton Hall School, will be the compere for the evening, overseeing proceedings and introducing performers.

Lizzy Coleman, Events and Fundraising Officer for Lingen Davies, said the Concert would be a fitting way to mark the festive period with a selection of popular Christmas music and songs.

“We have a jam-packed Christmas schedule this year including Abbeyfest, a beer and drinks festival at The Abbey, on Friday and Saturday, 26th and 27th November, as well as a Santa Dash at Salop Leisure, and a 5K Santa Run in Oswestry.

“The Christmas Concert will be a fabulous way to take some time out of our busy pre-Christmas schedules, sit back and enjoy some beautiful music,” she added.

Tickets for the concert are priced from £10 which includes a mulled drink and a mince pie. To book tickets and for further details on the charity’s other Christmas events visit the website
