New Chews'bury Trail to tempt Shrewsbury foodies with six pit-stops across town!
A new foodie trail for Shrewsbury launches this August 21 and we're excited to give it a try! The Chews'bury Trail, organised by local charity Self Help Africa, is a self-guided route around town which includes six-pit stops in Shrewsbury eateries.
Hannah Newton, fundraising officer for the charity, tells My Shrewsbury how she came up with the idea for the new trail: "The last 18 months have been tough and the lack of events and holidays has left us all craving something to look forward to. Here at Self Help Africa we have really missed our bi-annual Secret Supper Club events and with the unknown lying ahead we wanted to plan an event that could go ahead no matter what happens. The Chewsbury Trail is a self guided trail around Shrewsbury town centre stopping off at independent food and drink venues along the way for a take-out taster of the best they have to offer. All proceeds to Self Help Africa whilst also supporting the small independent businesses in our town that make Shrewsbury the fantastic place that it is!
"The trail will include 6 tasters, including savoury snacks, coffee, cake and more! Some of the venues are very new businesses so the chances are you will have the opportunity to try out some new places in town, all whilst supporting families in sub-Saharan Africa to escape hunger and poverty through the charity Self Help Africa."
The Chews'bury Trail takes place on Saturday, August 21, starting at 12 pm and finishing at 3 pm. The cost is £25 per adult for six taster dishes, or £12.50 per child, for three taster dishes. To buy tickets visit: selfhelpafrica.org/uk/chews-bury-trail/
