Local chef Liam Tinsley is proud to open 'The Restaurant' at Theatre Severn from Thursday, November 9th with a two or three course bistro style menu. My Shrewsbury editor Katy Rink says she is excited to see what he does with it!
I don't know about you, but I couldn't be happier that chef Liam Tinsley is the chef in charge of the new restaurant at Theatre Severn.
With bookings now being taken from Friday, November 10th at 'The Restaurant at Theatre Severn', Executive Chef Liam will be offering a bistro style pre-theatre menu with two courses for £28 or three for £35. It's a nice space on the second floor of the theatre, with beautiful riverside views over town - perfect for a dinner and a show date night!
The aptly titled 'Showstopper Burgers' are bound to be good, given that Liam comes to the theatre from a stint as head chef at The Beefy Boys. And his innings at The Mytton and Mermaid as well as at the Peach Tree and Lion & Pheasant, shine through in The Restaurant's promising main dishes including the likes of 'foraged risotto with wild mushroom and truffles', 'pork belly with apple & sweetcorn, a warm salad and black garlic' and 'roasted aubergine with giant cous-cous and pomegranate'.
We can't wait to report back from opening night (November 9th), but these should be dishes to book early for - so it might be an idea to get into a habit of booking tickets and dinner together. There's not been a restaurant at the theatre since The Foundry closed during Covid and there will be plenty of folks looking forward to the return of proper 'date nights', although there's a great kids' menu too, so good for a family treat (especially with desserts such as banoffee cheescake and jelly & ice cream on offer). Liam will also be able to cater for meetings and conference bookings at the Shropshire-Council owned venue.
Liam, 34, is such a hard-worker and a passionate foodie - you might also know him from his popular food takeaway 'FEAST' during the pandemic but 'The Restaurant' at Theatre Severn will be his first 'bricks and mortar' business. He's delighted to be donning his first 'actual chef jacket' in 10 years (having been in ts at The Beefy Boys!) and he's getting plenty of messages online from fellow chefs and well-wishers.
He says: "I am so excited to be taking on this new venture at the fantastic Theatre Severn. We'll be offering a bistro style menu, which will change to accompany the different performances. With the option of two or three courses, we will ensure customers are seated, served, and finished in time for the show, so you never have to worry about missing the main event.”
With shows coming up including 'Rave On' - a tour through the biggest hits of the 1950s and 1960s (November 10th), an evening with Reginald D Hunter (November 10th) and bands T Rextasy and The Jam'D (both on November 11th) and Shrewsbury Musical Theatre Company's 'School of Rock' on the horizon (November 15th - 18th) the there's plenty to get out to!
So best make that date night reservation sooner rather than later! NB bookings cannot be made via the Box Office.
