If you’ve not been to Shropshire Oktoberfest before - the super vibrant, Munich-style beer festival in The Quarry, you’re in for a treat - here’s a few tips on what to expect and how to make the most of this mega party in the heart of Shrewsbury this Friday, September 30th & Saturday, October 1st.
Try Something New
The Fibre Heroes beer tent has a staggering array of independent brewers & drinks producers. Step out of your comfort zone, and discover a new tipple! There are over 150 local ales on tap, all served by the brewers who made them - they love to talk brewing! From Cleric's Claw to Green Monkey, or Postman's Knock - there's sure to be one for you. And if you're not a fan of beer, there's a gin bar, prosecco bar, perrys and ciders too.
Lose your inhibitions in the Silent Disco
It’s a phenomenon not to be missed - make eye contact with someone on the same channel as you and it could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship. It's hot, sweaty and completely addictive (and absolutely guaranteed to improve your dancing).
Soak up the Juice with a Bratwurst
Nothing beats a Bavarian sausage in a bun with a dab of mustard - get a picture next to the stand; it’s a classic shot! If you’re not a sausage fan, other street food is also available, but you're really missing out.

Unmissable: The Old Time Sailors
Whatever you do, make sure you experience this 17-piece band with their shanty power music show, which will take you back into the 19th century, when drunken sailors roamed the taverns (Live Lounge: Friday & Saturday nights, 6pm-9pm).
Let it all out in Carpool Karaoke
Look out for the Volvo Carpool Karaoke tipi - grab some friends and head on in for your five minutes of fame!
Take a Break n' have a Giggle
It’s easy to forget that there’s brilliant comedy going on - with all the bright lights, bustle and competition for your attention once inside the festival. But do stop in to the Live Lounge and enjoy the great lineup with MC Luke Honnoraty, Micky P Kerr, Josh Pugh, Liam Pickford and Gordon Southern (Saturday, 12pm - 6pm).
