Shrewsbury Food Hub’s Annual Walk Against Waste is taking place on Sunday, April 21st. The volunteer-powered charity is using it to raise awareness about reducing food waste in our community.
Every step taken will raise awareness of World Earth Day and how reducing food waste can have a positive impact on the environment. Funds raised will help the Hub rescue more surplus food.
Happy walkers at last year's event
Walkers will meet from 9am onwards outside Shrewsbury College by the English Bridge. The 6K walk will follow the loop of the River Severn, taking in 6 iconic bridges.
The walk is a relaxed and scenic challenge that everyone can get involved in. You can do it alone, in a group, with your dog, or link up with other walkers on the day. The route, which will take about 1.5 hours to walk, is buggy and wheelchair friendly.
Michael Carding, Shrewsbury Food Hub volunteer and fundraiser, said, “This is a fantastic day out for all ages. We had a great turnout last year and raised funds to help keep our wheels turning. We would love for even more people to walk with us this year.”
