27 Apr 2023

A new exhibition by George Sfougaras joins this summer's Shrewsbury Arts Trail. ‘Kinesis’ will be available to view at the Gateway Gallery from July 1st – 31st after a preview event on June 29th from 7pm until 8.30pm.

An award-winning international artist will be staging a major exhibition in Shrewsbury this summer as part of the town’s Arts Trail.

George Sfougaras, a contemporary British Greek artist who works and exhibits internationally in collaboration with a network of partners, will be showing a large selection of his work at The Gateway Gallery in Chester Street from July 1st – 31st.

George says: “I am very excited to be exhibiting the town of beautiful Shrewsbury, especially during the wonderful Arts Trail.
“I make images that exists at the intersection of art, history, politics and culture, with topics drawn from personal experiences, family histories and contemporary events.

"When I make art, I feel a sense of continuity where time is a concept and all things are happening in the present moment. I create work which I hope engages others at an emotional level, which encourages dialogue, healing and reconciliation within the self and the world beyond."

Stefan says: "Movement is constant in my process as well as in the finished pieces - shaping and glazing quickly to retain a dynamic sense of the vitality of materials."
