A new drinks festival comes to Shrewsbury Abbey this weekend - and with the final lineup of bands, breweries and some exciting food options now announced - it's shaping up to be the best night out in town!

Organisers of a brand new drinks festival being held this weekend have announced the final bands, breweries, and tasty food options lined up to deliver a real festive treat.

AbbeyFest is a new beer and gin festival taking place on Friday and Saturday this weekend (November 26 & 27) inside the beautiful surroundings of Shrewsbury Abbey. It is being run in collaboration between the Abbey, Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, and the team from Gindifferent based in Shrewsbury Market.

Talented local acts performing include singer songwriter Chris Quinn, Geoff Music, Josh Lobley, Sonya Smith, The Retro Roses, and acoustic favourite Andy Mills. Beers will be available from brewers including Salopian, Hobsons, Woods, Stonehouse Brewery and Three Tuns. The Gindifferent experts will be mixing up a range of offerings using a range of gins including those from Ironbridge based Moonshine and Fuggles. Food options include The Pie-oneers, Planet Doughnut, and Jerk Chicken from Cave Valley Kitchen.

Lizzy Coleman, Events and Fundraising Officer for Lingen Davies Cancer Fund which supports cancer patients throughout Shropshire and Mid-Wales, said everyone involved in organising Abbeyfest was proud to have pulled together such an exciting new event for the area.

“We can’t wait to open our doors on Friday, there’s going to be a real festive buzz about Shrewsbury Abbey all weekend and we have lined up some wonderful local acts for people to come along and enjoy.

“The well-stocked bars, array of food options, and lots of other entertainment are guaranteed to deliver a great night out for everyone,” she added.

Advance tickets for the event, which is sponsored byOswestry based fire safety experts Aico, and Rix Petroleum, are available for £10 through www.lingendavies.co.uk/events or on the door from £12. Abbeyfest will run from 5pm to 10pm on Friday, 2pm to 10pm on Saturday.
