21 Apr 2023

The Rhos Male Voice Choir - Côr Meibion Rhosllannerchrugog - one of the most successful in Wales - will be singing at Shrewsbury School on Friday, May 19th 2023 at 7.30pm.

Shrewsbury School will welcome the Rhos Male Voice Choir on Friday, May 19 in the Maidment Auditorium at 7.30pm for what promises to be an unmissable evening of music.

Founded in 1891, Rhos Male Voice Choir is one of the most successful in Wales. In 2013 the choir took first place in the male voice choir competitions at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, the National Eisteddfod and S4C’s ‘Côr Cymru’.

This unique hat-trick followed wins in the National Eisteddfod in 2011 and 2012. The choir also won again in Llangollen in 2015. The choir has travelled the world singing in America, Canada, and throughout Europe, and is regularly invited to sing the national anthems for Wales’ International rugby matches.

With ages ranging from 13 to 'well past 80', choristers come from just about every walk of life with very few having had any professional music training. Quite a few choristers have been members for more than 50 years, and many others have celebrated their 25th anniversary with the choir.

Those interested in the concert are encouraged to book tickets in advance by either visiting or calling 01743 280812. Tickets are available at just £12.50, and those interested in the programme of concerts offered at Shrewsbury School, open to all and many free to attend can email to request a Music and Arts Brochure.

This concert forms part of the 64th Season of Music and Arts at Shrewsbury School which runs September 2022-June 2023 across many of the school’s venues.

Shrewsbury School runs a varied and exciting programme of music and arts; alongside performances from their own pupils and teachers which form the heart of the programme there are also concerts and events given by many national and international visiting artists and musicians.

Events – from plays and concerts to art exhibitions and musicals are open to all and more information can be found at
