Roger McGough at Church Stretton Arts Festival

Tickets are now on sale for The Church Stretton Arts Festival which runs from 23rd July to 13th August and features a stunning lineup of Music, Arts, Drama and Photography - plus an appearance from one of the UK's best-loved poets Roger McGough, pictured here by Nick Wright Photography.

There should be something for everyone in this year's Church Stretton Arts Festival - returning in full force after the pandemic.

Lucy Stevens kicks off the festival with her tribute to Virgina Woolf in words and song, Virginia Woolf: Killing the Angel, a one-woman play using Virgina's own words, woven together with contemporary music and song.

One of the UK’s best-loved poets, Roger McGough, author of over one hundred books of poetry and presenter of BBC Radio 4's Poetry Please will entertain the audience at the Silvester Horne Institute on July 26 (sorry, sold out).

Heartbreak Productions present Jane Eyre, in their uniquely fun, inventive and interactive style, whilst Dr. John Chu, Senior Curator for Pictures and Sculpture for the National Trust will talk about his new book, 100 Paintings from the Collections of the National Trust.

Alison Neil returns to the Festival stage with a one-woman play telling the story of The Fossil Lady of Lyme, Mary Anning.

Church Stretton Arts Karolos

As usual, the Festival also includes a wide variety of music. Early music fans will be delighted by Passamezzo (July 28) and their show Music for the Mayflower, while others will be fascinated by the combination of harp and upper voices presented by Louise Thomson and the Corvus Consort (July 29). Karolos - internationally-acclaimed musicians including classical guitar, violin, viola and cello (pictured above) perform on August 4 and The Rozzers, the No 1 Sting and Police tribute band are at the Silvester Horne Institute on July 30 (pictured below).

A4 Brass Quarter perform on August 2 and Gamal Khamis, a prize-winning pianist will also give a recital (August 5) and the festival concludes on August 13 with Embraceable Ella at Concord College, a celebration of Ella Fitzgerald, with Joanna Eden and the Chris Ingham Trio. 

Church Stretton Arts Rozzers

There will be an exhibition for amateur professional artists, craft workers and photographers at St Lawrence Primary School open every day from July 26 to August 6, 10.30am to 5pm.
