Shrewsbury is getting ready for its first ever Shropshire Party at the Quarry Park this weekend (Friday, May 20th & Saturday, May 21st) with some great bands coming to play, a silent disco, fab comedians and much more...
The marquees and tipis are going up in preparation for the first ever 'Shropshire Party at the Quarry Park' festival this weekend and there's a great lineup of entertainment awaiting the revellers!
From the organisers of the super popular Shropshire Oktoberfest (Shropshire Festivals) comes this brand new party in the park with a wonderful selection of local brewers, drinks producers and street food vendors on hand to keep us fed and watered.
Dress for summer - time to show off those peek-a-boo dresses and cutesy cut-outs! Top it off with a flower crown at one of the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund workshops.
And enjoy a brilliant selection of performers on the Fibre Heroes main stage - including local favourites such as The Vertigo Band, Five o'clock Hero, Krack On Band, Lost the Plot, Groove Dynamite, Dirty Rockin Soundrels (pictured here), Chasing August, old Time Sailors (pictured below) and Something 4 The Weekend.
As well as great food and drink and fab music, there are lots of fun things to try too, including the Silent Disco and a 'Jamaoke' tent (which is described as a cross between Guitar Hero and karaoke, where clever technology lets you play in a band with your friends, using real instruments). Plus there's the usual Shropshire Festivals added fun, with a bungee run, axe throwing, human table football, volleyball, space hoppers, a rodeo bull and even a glider simulation.
On the Saturday, you can try out belly dancing, hula hooping, line dancing and enjoy a top line of comedians in the live lounge including Andy Field and Silky (both pictured below), Mrs Barbara Nice, Danny Deegan, James Sherwood and Michael Fabbri.
From 12pm on Saturday, May 21st, JD Gyms will be running a family fun dance party, tug of war and fitness challenge.
The local food and drink providers will include: Hobsons Brewery, Three Tuns Brewery, The Special Cider Company, The Shropshire Distillery, Gindifferent, Bob's Curry Hut, Fordhall Farm, Mukaase Afro Caribbean Cuisine and more. CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) will be running a bar with all their favourite cask ales.
Beth Heath, Director of Fun at Shropshire Festivals, said: "If you love Shropshire Oktoberfest, you're gong to love this! Shropshire Party at the Quarry Park is going to be non-stop fun. Enjoy sampling our best local beers, gins, wines, street food and bands! Come this weekend and be proud to say you attended the first ever Shropshire Party at the Quarry Park. The weather forecast is looking great - come and party until the sun goes down."
Sponsoring the festival will be Fibre Heroes (main stage), TCA (volunteers' area), Cartwrights Waste Disposal (waste), Chrisbeon (VIP area), Aaron & Partners (wristbands) and toilets and signs from Monks.
Oliver Helm, Fibre Heroes CEO, said: "We're really excited to be supporting this weekend's festival. Shropshire Festivals have lots of fun lined up and we're thrilled to be involved. They provide the community with brilliant experiences, which aligns with our mission to build Shrewsbury's fastest broadband network."
