Team Cleo Concerts aim to Reach £70K for Brain Tumour Charity
12 Apr 2023

Team Cleo is a Shrewsbury-based fundraising group that raises money for The Brain Tumour Charity run by talented local musicians in honour of their daughter Cleo (pictured) who died in 2019. Here are some local concerts coming up this weekend and beyond (April 15th, 16th & 21st). Please support if you can!

There's a wonderful cluster of concerts coming up this weekend in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity, organised by local fundraising group 'Team Cleo' which has raised over £66,000 since 2019 for paediatric brain cancer research. Can you help them reach £70K this weekend? Children are welcome and go free at all gigs, so it's a great opportunity to introduce them to classical music.

Organiser Jane Park explains: "Concerts are our main source of fundraising and we are unbelievably grateful to all the organisers and performers for their support. We would dearly love to reach the £70K milestone this weekend. We have a marvellous programme to share featuring well known local soloists."

Soloists will include: Margaret Wright (violin), Ruth Hayward (flute), Lyndall Bausor (oboe), Wendy Jones (trumpet) Alex Postlethwaite (violin) and Jane Park (viola). The Shropshire Chamber Orchestra will also perform the world premiere of Paul Henley's 'Turbulence'. SCO is made up of local professional and semi professional musicians, performing to the very highest of standards.

All funds raised from the various concerts will go to the Team Cleo Fund, a registered supporter group of The Brain Tumour Charity, established in 2019 in memory of 10-year-old Cleo Postlethwaite, a keen musician herself, who died from a rare glioblastoma brain tumour. Her mum Jane set up the fund, vowing: "We will carry on raising money to fund research and help spread the word of this terrible disease that snatched her from us in a bid to prevent other families from losing their own Cleos."
