Handel's Messiah returns to Shrewsbury Abbey, sung by Shrewsbury School Community Choir
The 33rd performance of Handel's iconic masterpiece will be performed in the stunning setting of Shrewsbury Abbey under the direction of the choir's new conductor Richard Stafford who took up post as Deputy Director of Music and Head of Choral Music at Shrewsbury School in September 2022.

The Wonder Stuff’s Miles Hunt returns to Shrewsbury to perform songs from his album Things Can Change, alongside classics from his 36-year career. This will be an intimate, seated show with seats allocated on arrival.
Christmas Service of Nine Lessons and Carols
St Mary’s Church, Shrewsbury 6.30pm-8pm
Come and listen to members of the Insurance Institute of Shropshire and Mid Wales read lessons for the service followed by a glass of sherry & mince pie. Non-aloholic drinks will also be available.

Looking for that last minute Christmas present? A reminder it’s Late Night Shopping in Shrewsbury all this week with many stores opening until 7pm. Gaudete, a musical celebration of Christmas through the ages is at St Alkmund’s Church on Wednesday 21st at 7pm, with entry by donation. A Christmas Carol & Matilda
The Old Market Hall is screening the version of Dicken’s classic Christmas ghost story filmed in Shrewsbury in the 1980s each day until Christmas Eve at 12 noon. Humbug!
And if you don’t fancy that, then it is also screening the new film version of the brilliant Matilda musical until New Year’s Eve if you’re feeling a little bit naughty . . .
