Brought to Shrewsbury by Cherie Jerrard this brilliant Arts Fair comes direct from the studio spaces of Shropshire's amazing creative community - a gathering of the finest talent in the county! NB the lineup of artists is different on both days (see below). It's a chance to purchase new designs, unique prints, inspirational homewares, and gifts direct from the artists. 

SATURDAY: Asija Vestry, Gisela Robinson Art, Hannah Chumbley, Saffron Russell, Katie Jones, Matt Sewell, Mollie Vickers, Fen Art, Little Bird Editions, Julie Anne Pugh and Happy Daze Jewellery. 

SUNDAY: Anuka Jewellery, Had Davies, Julie Anne Pugh, PS We Create, Kij Illustration, Sparrow & Thread, Lizzistration, Happy Daze Jewellery, Steffy Illustrates, Tat Effby, Zoenso & Cherie Jerrard. 

A free DRAWN tote bag will be given to all visitors on arrival (until they run out!) and there's a competition to win prizes, including gloves from sponsors Turtle Doves too plus gifts from all creatives taking part. Winners will be announced on the Saturday by The Shrewsbury Biscuit Podcast.

Every entry comes with a free mince pie and mulled wine (or hot drink), and children go free! There will be great stalls, a rolling raffle, Christmas gifts and refreshments and all proceeds go to the food bank.

NB Postponed - the St Alkmund's Christmas Fair has been postponed until the spring, when it will become the Spring Fair. But you can still see the Jarualda Quartet here on Saturday (see below)!

British electronic band Blancmange first broke through in the early 80s with their mix of synthesizers and surrealism, fused in groundbreaking singles such as ‘Feel Me’, ‘Living On The Ceiling’, ‘Blind Vision’ and ‘Don’t Tell Me’. The epic synthpop of ‘Waves’ and a cover of Abba’s ‘The Day Before You Came’ illustrated a band who were always willing to change and adapt new styles within their electronic framework.

Meet the Maker - Artist Lou Stafford

Lou will be demonstrating the fine art of scribbling, using fine ink liners in predominantly black with a few splashes of dramatic colour. Without lifting the pen off the paper, she creates beautiful drawings made up of random lines in different directions. Prints and other products will be available on the day to buy including mugs and baubles made from fine bone China.

Coleham Pumping Station - Open Day

See the magnificent steam beam engines at work, enjoy teas and wonderful cakes in the garden by the river, marvel at the model railway layouts, ride on the mini steam train and chat to the volunteers. It's a grand day out!

Matt Glossop - Classic Film Themes

This FREE concert sees virtuoso violinist Matt Glossop present a heart-warming concert of famous film tunes. Matt is from Shrewsbury originally and has been on a fast-track journey to success via the Royal Northern College of Music, followed by an International Artist Diploma in Orchestral Leadership, in partnership with the Hallé Orchestra. He performs on records for Sony Music and has performed on stage with Andrew Lloyd Webber!

A collection of well-known Shrewsbury artists will throw open their studio doors for you to browse and buy their wonderful creations. Visit Linda Edwards at her Quarry Place studio - visit www.lindaedwardsart.co.uk to register and book your free slot. Parker and Arrol will be showing their new hand painted fabric designs in their studio to the rear of 38 Wyle Cop on Saturday, from 10am to 5pm and on Sunday, from 11am to 3pm. And you can also see Lindsey Kennedy's wonderful mosaics in her newly redecorated studio at 38C, Wyle Cop on both days, same times.

The Shrewsbury Christmas Jumper Run

This Christmas head down to the Quarry and join hundreds of other runners to raise money for the Severn Hospice at the Shrewsbury Christmas Jumper Run. This will be a race for all the family no matter of age or ability with 2.5K, 5K and 10K options all professionally chip timed.
Christmas jumpers are optional! Entry fee, £10 per person (£15 for 10K), with all profits to Severn Hospice.
