Get the chance to see a magnificent display of local art at the Wildlife Artist of the Year Exhibition, on show at The Hive in Shrewsbury.
Cuan Wildlife Rescue are a hosting a vibrant collection of wildlife-based art, taking place from Wednesday 3rd - Tuesday 30th November 2021. It promises to feature a range of artwork produced by 12 Shropshire-based artists, created between 2017 and 2021.
The winner of this year’s competition, Hannah Cumber, created her coloured pencil drawing ‘Fox’ (shown below) in 2019. She commented: “My inspiration comes from my love and respect for wildlife in all its forms. I wanted to capture his expression and the details in his eye. ‘Fox’ was my first wildlife piece.”
The 27 pieces of art on show feature an assortment of familiar animals, including squirrels, deer, hedgehogs and kingfishers. As well as watercolour, oil and acrylic paintings, there’s also a few ceramic and paper-cutting works too, with some pieces available to purchase.
This is the first time that Cuan Wildlife Rescue has organised an event like this, though organisers are hopeful that this may be the first of many more to come.
